Welcome, Teaching for a Change Conference Participants!

A "wiki" is a website where anyone can post information, create pages, share ideas, ask questions and get answers. It's sort of a library for a specific group of people. It differs from a "blog" in that we all can add information to the posted pages or create new pages (with a blog, only one person posts information; everyone else just adds comments to the posted content).

This is our wiki. We can use it to stay in touch, stay connected, and to share best teaching practices with each other. We can also use it to discuss educational challenges and solutions, to ask specific questions and get feedback, and to support and encourage each other.

A wiki is only as helpful as the folks who contribute to it. If no one posts anything on the wiki, it's pretty much useless. However, if enough of us post even a few sentences (helpful teaching hints, a suggestion or two, a note of encouragement, a question), it will become a useful learning tool for us all. Perhaps more importantly, it will keep us all connected - our own community of educators - even through the busy times when we forget to check it regularly.

Ah, that is the trick! - checking the wiki regularly. Let's make ourselves a commitment to check this wiki once or twice a month, and to add bits and pieces to it whenever we have a few minutes to do so. It will grow so quickly that we will all be amazed!

Begin now by adding to this page. Better yet, add a new page of your own (clidk on the "add a new page" link). Don't be afraid to play around with the links and all - you can't hurt the wiki. By this time next year, we will have a collection of fabulous teaching information, tools, ideas, and suggestions - so much good stuff that our courses and lessons will become easier and more effective, and our work lives richer and more satisfying. What could be better than that?!
